FAQ

Is overtime available?

It depends on the team and workload. Overtime may be offered when needed, but it’s not generally expected.

What is work-life balance like at Rheinmetall?

We value a healthy work-life balance and understand family comes first. Many team members adjust their start times to accommodate things like school drop-offs or other personal commitments. This just needs to be discussed and agreed with your manager.

Do you offer split shifts (morning & afternoon)?

Yes – we’ve introduced a two-shift model to support increased production.

Shift Times:

  • Day Shift: 6:00am–3:00pm (Mon–Thurs), 6:00am–2:30pm (Fri)
  • Afternoon Shift: 3:00pm–11:30pm (Mon–Thurs), 3:00pm–11:00pm (Fri)*
      *May vary slightly by team

How shifts work:

  • Internal employees can request to move to afternoon shift
  • New roles may be advertised directly for afternoon shift
  • All new starters begin on day shift for onboarding and training (6–8 weeks), before transitioning to afternoon shift (if applicable)

Currently, afternoon shift is in place for Paint and Warehouse teams, with other areas rolling out by 2026.

If I’m offered an afternoon shift, do I start straight away?

Not immediately. You’ll complete 6–8 weeks of training on day shift first. Once training is complete, you’ll move to the afternoon shift, if that was part of your original offer.

Will I be employed under an Enterprise Agreement (EA), and how does pay work?

Most production roles are covered under a Rheinmetall Enterprise Agreement (eA), which outlines pay rates, shift allowances, and other entitlements. Your recruiter or hiring manager will confirm if your role is EA covered during the recruitment process.

Does Rheinmetall offer a 9-day fortnight?

Yes! All employees across the company (including Operations) in Australia are part of our whole of company 9 day fortnight initiative. That means every second Friday, you get a day off – without losing pay.

It’s just one of the ways we promote work-life balance and give you time back to recharge or take care of personal commitments.
