Project Lead Operations
After training as a mechatronics engineer, I continued my education to become a state-certified mechanical engineering technician. At the same time as my work as a production equipment designer, I completed a technical business administration degree at night school. I was subsequently able to gain experience working in project management at a European company. However, after my path there ended due to a serious illness, I again became active in applying for jobs – Rheinmetall was one of them. Looking back, this turned out to be a lucky moment, despite all the circumstances.
By maintaining my network, contacting recruiters and attending a career fair (German Armed Forces Day), I was successful and joined Rheinmetall at very short notice via an external service provider. My contract was signed on a Friday and the following Monday I started my first working day in Kassel.
“The alternating tasks and the good working atmosphere make our location special and set it apart.“
Before I applied for a job at Rheinmetall, I had already gained a lot of different experience in manual jobs. I always enjoyed the various tasks and was able to put my skills to good use. In 2002, I worked at a Rheinmetall location for the first time for an external company. At the time, I was working on the Transrapid.
I liked the working atmosphere, and the processes and the activities appealed to me. In addition, my military service, which I completed by 1995, had already piqued my interest in the metal and steel construction industry. That’s why I applied for a job as a welding technician at Rheinmetall in 2005. I wanted a new challenge, and Rheinmetall offered me this opportunity as a career changer. I initially worked in another division, but I have now been with Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH since 2007.
