Divisions of the Rheinmetall Group
Air Defence
The Air Defence division combines aviation and air defence capabilities in a comprehensive system network in order to achieve and maintain air superiority. The business unit Aeronautical Systems offers the full spectrum of aviation services for fixed and rotary wing aircrafts and contributes to future capabilities in the dimension air. The business unit Air Defence & Radar Systems contributes to anti-access/area denial (A2/AD) and creates conditions for freedom of operation. Rheinmetall’s air defence systems protect ground and sea-based troops against threats from the air, in particular against the increasing threat of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) in the context of modern warfare. The division is grouped into the following business units: Systems and Effectors, and Systems and Sensors.
Digital Systems
Digitalisation, networking, cyber – the Digital Systems division encompasses the entire chain of effects in the system network – from sensors and the networking of platforms and soldiers to the (partially) automated connection of effectors. This is supplemented by solutions for protection in cyberspace. Other fields of action include extensive training and simulation solutions, in which the company has more than 40 years of experience. It also offers operator solutions for aircraft. The division is grouped into the following business units: Air Unmanned Space, Defence Electronics, Digital Solutions, and Global Business.
The Naval Systems division is responsible for maritime solutions in surface shipbuilding. The division comprises four highly specialised shipyards in northern Germany: Blohm+Voss and Norderwerft in Hamburg, Peene-Werft in Wolgast and Neue Jadewerft in Wilhelmshaven.
Vehicle Systems
Tactics and logistics – The Vehicle Systems division offers a diverse portfolio of operationally proven wheeled and tracked vehicles, including combat, support, logistics and special vehicles, that is continuously developed further. Sensors, guidance systems, protection technologies and effectors from partner divisions make Rheinmetall’s wheeled and tracked vehicles the highly effective systems that they are. The division is grouped into the following business units: Logistic Vehicles and Tactical Vehicles.
Weapon and Ammunition
Impact and cover – the portfolio of the Weapon and Ammunition division comprises solutions for threat-appropriate, effective and accurate firepower as well as for comprehensive protection and operations support. Whether on land, on water, or in the air, Rheinmetall as one of the leading technology companies delivers systems for superiority on current and future battlefields and deployment areas. The division is grouped into the following business units: Direct Fire, Energetic Materials, Indirect Fire, Projects and Services, and Protection Systems.
Power Systems
The Power System division is a system provider for high-quality and innovative (mobility) solutions, control technologies and digital applications for the automotive and energy industries, among others.
With its business units and business areas, the division stands for outstanding expertise in the following areas: Air Management, Bearings, Castings, Electrification and Digitalization, Thermal Management, and Trade.
