KBO-Konstruktionsbüro Ost (KBO) is part of Rheinmetall´s Naval Systems division and is based at Peene-Werft. As a state-of-the-art and compact shipyard, Peene-Werft specialises in the construction, repair, maintenance and conversion of naval vessels and coastguard vessels. KBO was founded in 2013, and since then, the KBO team has grown to over 30 employees. Together with the production departments on-site, we realise challenging projects – with the care and family spirit that characterise our work. As an integral part of Naval Systems division, we stand for quality, efficiency and team spirit.
Expertise in design and coordination
Since its foundation, KBO has continuously developed and adapted to the growing demands of the shipbuilding industry. We take over the production-related design for naval vessels, including the aft ships of the corvette class 130 (boats 6 to 10), which are built at Peene-Werft. We are also involved in other Naval Systems division´s projects: we support the group of companies in their ongoing projects involving intelligence vessels, customs vessels, the frigates F125 and F126, as well as the MBV707.
Our expertise ranges from design and the coordination of design service providers and subcontractors to the development of models for the management of contract awards. Thanks to employees specialised in electrical engineering and ship theory, we are optimally prepared for projects. In addition to our work for our division, we also take on external orders – always with the highest quality standards in accordance with ISO 9000 and with the authorisation to hire out employees (temps). KBO is a small, well-coordinated team that impresses with its flat hierarchies, a friendly atmosphere and a good working climate. With 30 colleagues, we work closely together in terms of content and location, and we manage our exciting and often challenging projects with energy, joy and a solution-centric approach. We can always rely on each other – everyone contributes, and together we find pragmatic ways to achieve our goals efficiently.
Our strong roots in the region and at Peene-Werft in Wolgast are reflected not only in the long-term loyalty of many employees to the company, but also in the diversity of our team: with ages from under 30 to over 60, colleagues of all generations contribute their expertise and passion for shipbuilding.
