As Chief Engineer, you ensure the technical integrity and maturity of the complete vehicle.
You define and safeguard the overall vehicle architecture and its cross-domain integration such as the mechanical, electrical, electronic, and software systems work together as one coherent product.
You lead critical technical decisions and resolve complex vehicle-level issues. You ensure the vehicle meets its performance, safety, quality, cost, and production requirements. You drive the product toward a robust, manufacturable, and production-ready vehicle.

Own the technical definition and integrity of the complete vehicle, from concept and system architecture through development, validation, production launch, and product lifecycle

Act as the ultimate technical decision authority for the vehicle, leading architectural decisions and resolving cross-disciplinary technical conflicts between mechanical, electrical, software, controls, safety, manufacturing, and other engineering domains

Own the technical maturity of the product toward production, identifying critical technical risks, driving their resolution, and ensuring that the vehicle reaches a defined level of design maturity, validation, and industrial readiness
Provide technical leadership to the engineering organization and project teams, setting technical direction, challenging proposed solutions, and ensuring that engineering decisions are based on sound system-level reasoning and evidence

Ensure effective vehicle-level verification and validation, confirming that the integrated vehicle fulfils its requirements and that interfaces and interactions between mechanical, electrical, electronic, and software systems have been adequately verified

Ensure that safety, cybersecurity, reliability, diagnostics, maintainability, and regulatory requirements are considered at vehicle level and appropriately reflected in the system architecture and engineering process
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline
- Extensive professional experience in vehicle engineering and product development, including several years of responsibility for complete vehicles or major vehicle systems
- Deep understanding of mechanical vehicle architecture and design, including vehicle structures, driveline/powertrain, chassis, and mechanical interfaces
- Excellent cross-domain understanding of vehicle electrical and electronic systems, including power generation and distribution, batteries, electric drives, ECUs, sensors, actuators, communication networks, and vehicle-level E/E architecture
- Strong understanding of embedded hardware and software as integral parts of the vehicle, including control systems, real-time embedded systems, diagnostics, communication, and system integration
- Proven experience leading complex engineering activities and multidisciplinary technical teams, with the ability to provide technical direction while coordinating specialists across multiple engineering domains
- Significant experience with vehicle production and industrialization, including design maturity, manufacturability, production readiness, quality change management, and resolution of technical issues during series production.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical matters clearly to engineers, management, suppliers, production, and customers
- Excellent command of English and Dutch; German language skills are considered a strong advantage
