The Executive Manager: Business Development & Sales will be responsible to drive strategic growth and order intake through the full commercial cycle: from international market strategy, through complex negotiations, to signed contracts and long-term programs. The incumbent is responsible for the management of Business Development, sales, customer relationships and marketing initiatives to increase market and sales share and order intake for RDM.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate and contribute towards the formulation of strategic business and sales objectives for RDM.
- Transpose overall RDM strategic business and sales objectives into functional objectives within allocated area of responsibility.
- Structure and lead execution of business development and sales objectives within allocated area of responsibility.
- Own annual order intake target, pipeline and backlog management
- Manage complex tender cycles: RFI → RFP → Technical & Commercial Bid → Contract Negotiation → Award
- Build a strong Order Intake pipeline aligned with RDM Objectives
- Active coordination with Project Management & Production teams
- Confirm which RDM business solutions will be suitable for the market and sales opportunity.
- Pre-empt requirements through market research/market and sales awareness and engagement with stakeholders.
- Prepare and implement various capture methods for business development.
- Review competitor plans and effect of their products and services on opportunity management.
- Prepare pricing strategies according to customer budgets and procurement methods.
- Develop network with multi-layer relationships from end user to sales partners to ensure access to tender documents.
- Contract suitable partners within market to execute strategies successfully.
- Coordinate and align with management team.
- Liaise with internal role players to collate relevant inputs and establish an executable solution.
- Provide inputs to colleagues for business development opportunities.
- Ensure regular and effective communication with end users/technical advisors and distributors.
- Monitor and ensure optimal customer satisfaction before and during order execution.
- Manager all customers’ communication and maintain effective relationships.
- Communicate and engage with relevant stakeholders in the markets including Ministers, Heads of Security Forces, Defence Attaches, Ambassadors, Heads of Industry Partners, Procurement officers etc.
- Build strong stakeholder network.
- Coordinate and align with internal management team to effectively manage all business processes relevant to market/region/Key Account/product group.
- Ensure compliance to internal policies and procedures, government policies and international laws and legislations.
- NQF 7 (Bachelor’s Degree) qualification in Marketing/Business Development or equivalent qualification.
- At least 7 - 10 years’ experience years’ experience in international sales and marketing.
- Experience within the Security, Technology, or Defence industry.
- Sound knowledge of the Defence Industry, including ammunition and weapon systems.
- Knowledge of ammunition and weapon systems.
- Detailed knowledge on RDM and Rheinmetall products and services.
- Global Political Affairs
- Understanding of International Trade Willingness and ability to travel locally and internationally.
- Communicate effectively with fellow staff at all levels.
- Represent RDM at all levels of negotiation both technically and commercially.
- Ability to work under pressure.
