Executive Manager: Manufacturing Engineering

A well-established manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Executive Manager: Manufacturing Engineering to lead the Engineering, Maintenance and Toolroom functions and support the delivery of globally competitive manufacturing operations.

This executive role is responsible for ensuring that product engineering, manufacturing processes and equipment reliability support efficient, cost effective and reliable production performance.

The position reports directly to the General Manager and forms part of the senior leadership team.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Engineering Leadership
• Ensure product master data accuracy to support reliable and cost-effective manufacturing
• Maintain configuration control and engineering governance within the ERP system including BOMs and routings
• Implement engineering best practice to support operational performance
• Provide technical support to manufacturing and assist in the development of production processes
• Lead technical investigations internally and with customers
• Collaborate with the Quality department to ensure quality standards are achievable and realistic
• Develop CAPEX proposals to improve production capacity and reduce manufacturing cost
• Lead engineering projects within the department

Maintenance and Toolroom Oversight
• Appointed as GMR 2.1 Supervisor of Machinery
• Full management responsibility for the Maintenance department
• Full management responsibility for the Toolroom
• Drive preventative maintenance programmes across the organisation
• Ensure equipment reliability supports manufacturing operations
• Ensure press tools and production tooling are available and maintained for manufacturing

Leadership Responsibilities
• Define the vision and goals of the department aligned with company objectives
• Lead and develop engineering teams
• Foster cross functional collaboration across manufacturing functions
• Support the business in delivering globally competitive manufacturing costs
• Promote and enforce a strong safety culture


What Success Looks Like in This Role

Within the first 12 to 18 months the successful candidate will be expected to:• Strengthen engineering governance and master data accuracy
• Improve preventative maintenance maturity and equipment reliability
• Strengthen collaboration between Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality
• Deliver engineering initiatives that improve capacity, throughput or cost competitiveness
• Build a strong and accountable engineering leadership team

Minimum Requirements:


Qualification
BEng or BTech Mechanical Engineering (non-negotiable)


Experience:
10 to 15 years manufacturing experience
Minimum 5 years in senior management

Essential Exposure
• Machining processes and/or assembly operations
• Project management
• ERP systems

Candidates must have worked in a precision or high-volume manufacturing environment.

Advantageous
GCC certification
SAP ERP experience

Languages
English
