Laboratory Analyst

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Laboratory analysis, assist and execute tests as trained and required by the immediate supervisor
• Compile work report to RDM standard (Traceability of original request until final report).
• Support Routine and Non- Routine Laboratory analysis
• Maintain good housekeeping practices, cleaning of work environment, preparation of glassware and hardware for tests.
• Accept and log incoming samples
• Preparation of samples, execution of tests, reporting to supervisor, proper discarding of excess materials and proper waste management
• Maintain and monitor stock levels of consumables.
• Monitor calibration status of instruments and equipment and report to supervisor.
• Ensure all laboratories and sample rooms complies with Explosive regulations, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001.
• Must be able to work overtime on short notice
• Must be able to work under pressure
• Accountable for basic laboratory administration and interaction with plant personnel
• Adhere to Health & Safety requirements as per RDM requirements
• Adheres and implements Rheinmetall Denel Munitions Policies and Procedures and ensures compliance to ISO Standards with respect to SHE/Quality /Environmental /Energy.

• GR.12 (NQF 4) with Mathematics and Science
• At least 2 years’ experience in chemistry within the laboratory in an explosives and manufacturing environment.
• Good interpersonal skills and coordinating capability.
• Clear security screening record.
• Good verbal and written communication.
• Good interpersonal skills and coordinating capability.
• Good planning and attention to detail.
• Self-motivated and independent.
• Computer literate (MS Packages).
