Mechanical Technician Intern

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Mechanical Technician Intern will receive exposure in the design, fabrication, and testing of artillery munitions. The training opportunity will cover the design (CAD, detailed drawings and data-pack configuration), manufacturing (liaising with suppliers and plant regarding hardware) and preparing hardware for testing and assisting in test execution.

KEY PERFOMANCE AREAS:

• Support engineers and technicians in organising hardware with suppliers and the plant.
• Support engineers and technicians in assembling of hardware for testing.
• Support engineers and technicians in draughting of components and assemblies.
• Support in data pack configuration.
• Assist with hardware fabrication.
• Assist components procurement and collection.
• Follow safety guidelines and procedures when working in the plant and with tools.
• Adhere to all applicable legislation within RDM.
• Adheres and implements Rheinmetall Denel Munitions Policies and Procedures and ensures compliance to ISO Standards with respect to SHE/ Quality/ Environmental/ Energy.

•    NQF 6 in Mechanical Engineering.
•    Fully computer literate (all MS Office packages).
•    Good knowledge & understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals. 
•    Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
•    Good fault finding and trouble shooting skills.
•    Be available for standby duties and overtime when and as needed. 
•    Must be able to work under pressure. 
•    Good communication and organising skills.
