Production Manager - Armour Shop

About the Team

This role will be based at the Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence – MILVEHCOE, Redbank. This will be a fantastic opportunity to work within a fast paced, collaborative team of professionals, where you will manage a growing team of operators across two shifts, with any Team Leads reporting directly to yourself.

About the Role

The Production Manager – Armour Shop, is responsible for overseeing the employees, quality and safety of the Armour Shop area of the production facility. While ensuring production schedules are developed and met in full to the appropriate deadlines.

Key Responsibilities involve:

  • Leading, managing and driving a continuous improvement culture across the Armour Shop, ensuring an organised, tidy and well laid out facility and implementing 5S and LEAN methodologies where suitable;
  • Staff management across relevant areas to ensure motivation and conducting development plans and appraisals;
  • Reviewing, leading and creating relevant work procedures and instructions;
  • Participate with root cause analysis and investigation of production problems. Work collaboratively with cross functional departments to identify and implement solutions.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes: 

  • Proven experience in Production or Operations Management, with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, advantageous if within the Defence Industry;
  • Proven ability to devise and implement strategic development and resource planning, particularly related to the management of change;
  • Strong experience in continuous improvement within a production environment, specifically with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing methodologies; 
  • Operational knowledge and capability of the Microsoft Office Professional suite and SharePoint; and
  • Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required).
