WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage EMED development tasks regarding cost and schedule, including planning, coordination, liaison with internal and external service providers, meetings and progress reporting.
- Develop and qualify EMEDs, including concept and prototype detail design and implementation of design updates through to final engineering model iterations.
- Perform engineering calculations and selections to ensure item functionality and manufacturability, including strength and force calculations, tolerance specifications and analysis, material suitability, interface compatibility and surface treatment.
- Conduct design reviews and liaise with relevant design authorities, CM, QA, Armscor and DPSS representatives.
- Collate and document design review outcomes.
- Obtain quotations, assist with the selection of suitable manufacturers, generate order requests and liaise with the Procurement Department.
- Liaise with manufacturers regarding performance, technical requirements, progress and schedule, and address technical queries and issues.
- Design and manufacture assembly and test equipment, tooling and fixtures required for EMED development and production.
- Develop test plans covering test type, sample quantities, hardware, test equipment, resources, cost and schedule.
- Prepare hardware, test setups and equipment required for testing.
- Prepare and implement test instructions and safety procedures.
- Coordinate and support test witnessing activities where required.
- Conduct tests safely and efficiently while ensuring accurate and reliable results.
- Collate, analyse, interpret and document test results.
- Generate and maintain MRI-listed technical documentation, including specifications, Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMP), assembly and test instructions and FMECA documentation.
- Compile and maintain safe working procedures and technical reports relating to EMED assembly, manufacture and testing.
- Foster and maintain a safe and healthy working environment.
- Ensure adherence to prescribed safety precautions and procedures during the assembly, manufacture and testing of explosive devices.
- Ensure all work is performed accurately and in accordance with applicable technical, quality and safety requirements.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
- T3/N6 in Mechanical/Electronics or Instrumentation Engineering
- Trade test in Mechanical/Instrumentation or Toolmaking,
- At least 1-3 years’ experience working in an explosive/manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of incoming component inspections, component build and assembly.
- Computer literacy.
- Strong planning and task coordination skills.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work accurately to fine mechanical tolerances.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Clear security screening record.
