Rheinmetall UK is advancing the next generation of autonomous battlefield mobility, delivering world-leading capabilities designed to enhance operational effectiveness, improve safety and support the British Army’s modernisation priorities. Through its investment in advanced autonomy, Rheinmetall UK is reinforcing its commitment to British industry, defence modernisation and the creation of future-ready armed forces.

At the core of this effort is the PATH Autonomous Kit - proven technology that recently secured first place in the “Automated Convoy” category at the European Land Robotics (ELROB) 2024 competition. Scalable and adaptable across a range of platforms, PATH enables uncrewed ground vehicles and logistics convoys to  operate with precision in the most  challenging terrains and conditions.

To accelerate delivery of these capabilities, Rheinmetall is establishing a UK-based Advanced Land Autonomy 
Centre of Excellence, one of four global hubs also located in Germany,  the Nordics and Canada. The UK Centre will focus on integration, testing and deployment of autonomous systems, supporting British sovereign capability while creating high-value engineering and technology roles.

Last year at Millbrook Proving Ground, Rheinmetall UK brought its leader-follower technology to life, as Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicle (RMMV) HX  vehicles powered through tarmac, steep gradients and dense woodland – delivering vital supplies with unmatched speed, heightened safety and minimal boots on the ground. 

The PATH appliqué autonomy kit is compatible with all in-service NATO vehicles, offering seamless interoperability and the ability to enhance existing fleets as well as future platforms. These advances align closely with the British Army Challenge Set, enabling logistics to be conducted in the precision age.
