Ground-based air defence has become increasingly important in Europe, particularly against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine. At DSEI 2025, Rheinmetall will be presenting the Lynx KF41 as an air defence tank with a
Skyranger 35 system for the first time at its stand S9-110. This highly mobile air defence system with integrated active and passive search and tracking sensors is a powerful, autonomous weapon system. It is the latest member of the Lynx family.

The Lynx Skyranger 35 combines the mobility and protection of a modern tracked vehicle with the outstanding effectiveness of a cannon-based air defence system. The Skyranger 35 is equipped with a KDG 35/1000 revolver cannon in 35 mm x 228 calibre with a firing rate of 1,000 rounds per minute. It has an effective range of up to 4,000 metres and a high degree of commonality with the Oerlikon Revolver Gun Mk 3. Thanks to AHEAD technology, the Skyranger 35 is airburst-capable. This makes the vehicle suitable for mobile accompanying ground-based air defence for heavy armoured formations. In the future, it will also be possible to equip it with modern guided missiles.

The Lynx Skyranger 35 is suitable for today's dynamic battlefield and offers superior performance against airborne threats – including drones, helicopters and precision-guided munitions – at short and very short ranges. As part of a versatile vehicle family, it ensures logistical efficiency through high platform compatibility, making it the ideal solution for mobile air defence measures.

The Lynx KF41 combat vehicle family has been developed to meet current and future requirements. The Lynx KF41 stands for maximum modularity. Thanks to its open electronic architecture and the largest protected interior volume in its class, the Lynx KF41 offers exceptional growth potential for future technologies and mission profiles. With a scalable weight concept, a highly efficient drive system and state-of-the-art protection technology, it combines mobility with maximum safety. At the same time, the Lynx impresses with its high level of ergonomics for the crew, which enables efficient and comfortable operation even during long missions.

In addition to the Skyranger 35, Rheinmetall also offers the Skyranger 30 system. As a hybrid solution, it features a 30mm x 173 KCE revolver cannon, surface-to-air guided missiles and the necessary sensor technology. The 30mm airburst ammunition makes the system particularly suitable for Counter-UAS missions.

Numerous EU and NATO members, including Hungary, Austria, Germany and Denmark, have opted for Rheinmetall's Skyranger mobile air defence solutions. In 2024, Rheinmetall received large-volume orders from Austria, Germany and Denmark. The Düsseldorf-based technology group is to supply Skyranger 30 to the German Armed Forces on the basis of the 8x8 Boxer and to the Austrian Armed Forces and the Danish Armed Forces on the basis of different wheeled platforms.
