  • Hermelin cUAS – a modular hybrid platform for silent drone defense
  • Can be operated with or without a crew
  • Rheinmetall Path-A-Kit for Autonomous Mobility
  • FN DeFNder Medium weapon station with M3M machine gun
  • Visit us at our Eurosatory stand F115/E115

At Eurosatory 2026, Rheinmetall will showcase the Hermelin cUAS, a high-performance solution for mobile drone defense that combines autonomous ground mobility, hybrid power supply, and modern effectors in a highly flexible platform. The system addresses the growing threat posed by unmanned systems and supports armed forces in securing critical areas and operations across the entire spectrum of operations.

Furthermore, the modular hybrid platform combines a reduced signature, long operational ranges, and flexible mission adaptation into a future-oriented integrated system (manned-unmanned teaming) for the digitalized battlefield.

The Hermelin cUAS is part of Rheinmetall’s comprehensive portfolio for networked and autonomous operations. In conjunction with sensors, command and control systems, and other unmanned systems, the platform contributes to the implementation of modern multi-domain operations concepts.

The Hermelin cUAS enables highly mobile yet low-signature drone defense. Through the combination of autonomous mobility, powerful sensor technology, and scalable capabilities, threats can be detected and countered early on without exposing personnel to unnecessary risks. At Eurosatory 2026, the Hermelin will
be equipped with the FN DeFNder Medium remote-controlled weapon station featuring the proven 12.7mm x 99 M3M machine gun, both from FN Herstal. It is also equipped with Rheinmetall’s Path system for autonomous mobility.

The hybrid propulsion architecture combines high tactical mobility with a significant reduction in acoustic and thermal signatures. This makes the Hermelin particularly suitable for long-duration surveillance, security, and protection missions in complex threat scenarios.

Thanks to the combination of its powertrains and its 6x6 buggy design, the vehicle can cover long distances of up to 400 km, with high agility when necessary and carrying a payload of up to one ton. Small, agile, and air-transportable, the Hermelin is ready for many mission scenarios on the battlefield of the future and offers military users a wide range of mountable weapon systems and/or reconnaissance equipment. The Hermelin can be deployed both with a crew and unmanned, thereby supporting modern manned-unmanned teaming concepts within networked armed forces.

The low-noise drive system enables a range of 50 kilometers off-road and up to 100 kilometers on the road. The hybrid drive system, with the help of the built-in diesel engine, ensures extended operational duration. The hybrid drive system powers the wheels electrically at all times. The torque of the electric motor gives the
Hermelin maximum wheel mobility. An integrated diesel engine ensures a continuous energy supply.

The Hermelin can be used as a next-generation mobile generator. This allows auxiliary equipment to be operated in silent mode. Thanks to the combustion engine for long-term operation, mobile generators are no longer required in the field.

The battery allows the user to consume exactly the amount of energy needed for their systems. This makes energy management more robust and sustainable, as locally generated sustainable energy sources such as solar and wind energy can also be stored.

Thanks to quiet operation, hybrid energy architecture, and modular payload integration, the Hermelin enables effective deployment in highly dynamic and high-threat scenarios. The system thus addresses the growing demands of modern armed forces for autonomous, networked, and resilient platforms.

We look forward to your visit at our Eurosatory booth F115/E116.
