At this year’s Eurosatory exhibition, visitors will have the opportunity to experience the Kraken K3 Scout, an unmanned surface vessel (USV) jointly developed by Rheinmetall Naval Systems and the UK-based technology company Kraken Technology Group.
Measuring approximately 8.5 metres in length, the USV offers a payload capacity of 600 kilograms. Depending on its configuration, it can be deployed for maritime surveillance, the protection of critical infrastructure or as a weapons platform for military operations.
The Kraken K3 Scout can reach speeds of up to 55 knots and addresses the growing global demand for commercially available unmanned platforms of various sizes for both military and civilian applications.
Series production of the Kraken K3 Scout commenced in April at Blohm+Voss, Rheinmetall’s Hamburg-based shipyard, which the Düsseldorf-based technology group is developing into Germany’s leading test and technology centre for unmanned and autonomous maritime systems.
The joint venture established last year between Rheinmetall Naval Systems and Kraken Technology Group operates under the name “Rheinmetall Kraken GmbH”. The company serves the increasing worldwide demand for market-ready unmanned platforms across a range of operational requirements and platform
sizes.
