GMF 140

Guided Missile Frigate

The GMF 140 is a next-generation guided missile frigate designed to deliver unmatched capability across the full spectrum of modern naval warfare. Developed to meet the evolving operational requirements of NATO and allied navies, the GMF 140 establishes a new benchmark for survivability, lethality and mission flexibility in the global frigate market.

Purpose-built for operations in the world’s most demanding threat environments, the GMF 140 combines advanced air and ballistic missile defence, anti-submarine warfare and long-range strike capabilities within a highly survivable, digitally integrated and minimally manned platform. The design is optimised for blue-water operations while retaining the flexibility to support expeditionary, littoral and coalition missions.

The GMF 140 is designed to integrate US-sourced primary radar options to provide exceptional detection, tracking and engagement performance against conventional air threats, hypersonic weapons and ballistic missiles; the AEGIS Combat System; and 64 Strike-Length Vertical Launch System (VLS) cells, capable of employing the complete family of modern air defence, ballistic missile defence and land-attack missiles. This provides a level of battlespace awareness and fire control typically available only on significantly larger surface combatants. The GMF 140 can also be offered with other combat management systems such as the Lockheed Martin CMS330 Combat Management System which provides decisive and proven operational performance through an open, interoperable and highly scalable fleet-wide combat management ecosystem that can support the integration of European sensor and weapon systems.

Designed from the keel up as a true multi-domain combatant, the GMF 140 incorporates advanced anti-submarine warfare capabilities, a low-signature hull, integrated acoustic management, hull-mounted and towed array sonar systems and support for embarked maritime US or European helicopters and unmanned systems.

The GMF 140 has been specifically developed for the requirements of NATO and allied navies seeking a highly capable, affordable and interoperable next-generation surface combatant. Its design is particularly well suited to nations modernising their fleets in response to increasingly complex security challenges across Europe, the North Atlantic and the Indo-Pacific.

Its combination of integrated air and missile defence, ballistic missile defence, anti-submarine warfare and long-range strike capability positions it as one of the most advanced and capable frigates available in its class.
