We are looking for a Senior Project Accountant to join our busy Finance team. Working on the Challenger 3 Programme, you will interact with the projects team on a daily basis and provide sound financial support and advice. You will interact with key senior leaders, so a confident and professional approach to stakeholder management, combined with a technically sound accounting knowledge and desire to create value, is essential.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
- Liaise with project managers, the commercial team and planners to provide financial support to aid decision-making, identifying opportunities and vulnerabilities and supporting the close out of financial positions around key financial reporting dates. Maintaining strong relationships with internal and external customers and evaluating processes to ensure that robust, relevant and adequate financial controls are in place
- Deliver an earned value management review of the cost and performance of the project or group of projects area, providing sound financial support and advice, maintaining strong relationships with internal and external customers and evaluating processes to ensure that robust, relevant and adequate financial controls are in place
- Deliver accurate and consistent project reporting information to meet the needs of the project team and finance management with the required timescales of the business unit and the wider group and including the development and preparation of CSR, PFM, related trading plans key salient forecasts, risk review and challenge.
- Drive and lead the quarterly EAC process to ensure accurate financial reporting alongside the other CR3 senior project accountant. Deliver accurate forecasts to support decision making.
- Deliver value adding and robust financial service to the project team and initiate continual review and improvement of processes and procedures to ensure that the financial control requirements of the business are met
- Take accountability for driving the IFRS15 month end and accruals process, developing a detailed understanding of the process and working with stakeholders to ensure accurate application.
- Financial governance requirements including financial control framework and initiate continual review and improvement of processes and procedures to ensure that the financial control requirements of the business are met
- Internal and External reporting including DefCARS reporting and and inputs into quarterly reporting for Rheinmetall AG
- Provide support to Treasury regarding provision of hedging arrangements to de-risk foreign currency exchange rate exposure and to monitor and control timing of foreign currency payments or receipts against the deals once in place
- Direct, coordinate and undertake the budgeting process, applying appropriate challenge and analysing the inputs in co-ordination with the FP&A team for senior leadership review. This individual needs to understand and articulate the financial “story” of variances to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Fully qualified accountant (ACMA, ACCA or ACA) with some PQE
- Experience of project accounting and IFRS15 would be advantageous, preferably within a manufacturing setting
- Know how to navigate through a finance system (knowledge of SAP desirable but not essential)
- Have experience with internal and external stakeholder management, being able to articulate complex financial problems to non-financial individuals
- Strong business partnering skills with highly effective communication, persuasion and influencing skills at all levels
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to work across functions in the business
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills in complex situations to aid decision making
