Safety, Health & Environmental Intern (SHE)

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Shadows a mentor on tasks to be able to support the SHE department.
  • Assist the mentor with compiling HIRA’s and Aspect Impact for their respective areas.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance to the legal and other related requirements (OHS Act, NEMA, Air Quality and Waste management) and develop measures to address/mitigate risks.
  • Assist with Environmental monitoring (Boreholes, Dust and Effluents etc).
  • Assist in the closing of findings after internal audits, Inspections and certification audits.
  • Assist with compiling Monthly reports.
  • Assist with Contractor management – safety files and access to site.
  • Assist with monthly sustainability reporting.
  • Assist with collating, arranging, recording and reporting on training as per OSHACT requirements.
  • Participate in audits and inspections.
  • Participate in Emergency exercises for the site.
  • Assist in the investigation of incidents for the site.
  • Assist in managing of recycle centre and waste.
  • Assist in drawing up and managing effective surveillance programmes as required by the Act e.g. noise, lux levels, medical etc.
  • Assist with IOD reporting and follow up.
  • Assist in maintaining licenses, permits and ISO certifications.
  • Updates notice boards.
  • Take responsibility for all administrative work related to SHE Office.
  • Adheres and implements Rheinmetall Denel Munitions Policies and Procedures and ensures compliance to ISO Standards with respect to SHE/Quality/Environmental/Energy

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent NQF7 qualification in Safety management, Environmental Science or Environmental Management
  • Problem solving / trouble shooting skills.
  • Strong commitment to meet deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to think proactively.
  • Attention to detail and time management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft office.
