WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The main purpose of a Scientist is to execute Quality control testing in the laboratories, give support to Product Development with product qualification tests, insight with new product development to ensure that the Quality System conforms to ISO 9001, ISO 17025 Requirements and final product conforms to the product specification.
- Routine and non-routine analysis to support continuous production.
- Support RDM investigations by conducting analytical tests and give technical inputs.
- Support Product Development with STANAG Qualification testing.
- Support Product Development during new product formulation from conception stages to commercialization.
- Research and development, and ability to conduct literature reviews for non-routine work.
- Understanding of RDM products via literature studies and RDM specifications to assist with non-routine work when required
- Research and development of analytical techniques.
- Method development, validation and review of existing method and updates.
- Project planning and execution.
- Accountable for basic laboratory administration and interaction with plant personnel
- Must be able to work overtime on short notice.
- Calibration and verification of laboratory equipment.
- Writing of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Training of laboratory personnel on equipment.
- Conducting planned task observations to monitor competency.
- Adhere to quality and safety requirements.
- Good housekeeping and responsible waste management.
- Capable of interpretation of data and sentencing.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
- BSc Honours degree in chemistry / material sciences.
- MSc in chemistry / material sciences would be advantageous.
- At least 3 years’ experience in a research and development environment or laboratory.
- Competency in laboratory equipment such as Gas Chromatography, High Performance Liquid Chromatography, Mass spectroscopy, Ion Chromatography, Inductive Couple Plasma, Thermal Characterization is mandatory.
- Experience in the application of analytical measurement tools, application of quality standards and statistical methods.
- Knowledge in basic requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 17025 and related international standards.
