WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Rheinmetall Expal Munitions is looking for a Junior Propulsion Engineer to join its solid rocket motor development team. The successful candidate will contribute to the design, analysis, and development of tactical solid rocket motors, supporting the growth of an in-house technical capability that underpins current and future contracts in rocket motor development and manufacturing.
Functions:
- Contribute to the development of solid rocket motor components including motor casings, propellant grains, igniters, insulation systems, and nozzle assemblies
- Perform engineering analyses (internal ballistics, structural, thermal) using both in-house tools and industry-standard software
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for design, manufacturing, testing, and acceptance of rocket motor production programs
- Support qualification and acceptance testing activities, including test planning, data acquisition, and results interpretation
- Participate in design reviews and technical project meetings, contributing to schedule and cost objectives
- Assist quality assurance and systems engineering teams with failure investigations and data analysis

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- Up to 2 years of experience in aerospace propulsion or a related engineering discipline including internships or academic research
- Working knowledge of CAD tools (SolidWorks or equivalent) for design review and assembly visualisation
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
- High English level (C1)
Valuable but not required:
- A Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering with specialization in Propulsion, Spacecraft Systems, or equivalent
- Exposure to solid or liquid rocket motor development, propellant technology, or aerospace propulsion subsystems
- Proficiency in Python for data analysis and engineering scripting
- Experience with thermochemical analysis tools such as NASA CEA or equivalent
- Exposure to CFD or structural simulation tools (e.g. ANSYS or similar)
