About the Team

Based out of our Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence (MILVEHCOE) in Redbank, Queensland, the Research and Technology department consists of a small and highly capable team, working on innovative technologies to enhance Australia’s military capability. RDA’s Research and Technology (R&T) department includes development areas across each of our primary divisions; Vehicle Systems, Digital Solutions, and Weapons, Ammunition and Protection.

About the Role

The Principal Cyber Security Engineer will be responsible for assuring the cyber security and conformance with regulations of products developed and/or delivered by Rheinmetall Defence Australia. The successful candidate will provide leadership and guidance for Product Cyber Security across all of RDA’s development programmes, ensuring that our policies and procedures are fit-for-purpose. The Principal Cyber Security Engineer will take responsibility of project documentation related to Product Cyber Security to ensure that the customer contract and company requirements are achieved. As a leader within this specialty, the Principal Cyber Security Engineer will provide mentorship and training to other RDA staff, growing the Product Cyber Security capability offering from RDA.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes: 

  • Tertiary qualification/s in Engineering recognised by the Institute of Engineers Australia;
  • Extensive experience in Defence Cyber Security management;
  • Highly advanced conceptual and analytical skills with strong attention to detail;
  • Expert research, planning and problem-solving skills relating to the development of new technologies or applications;
  • Technical knowledge of weapons, sensors, C4I and combat systems within the defence domain;
  • Excellent internal and external stakeholder management skills with ability to communicate complex engineering matters, programs and technical capabilities;
  • Willingness and ability to travel interstate and internationally when required; and
  • Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required).
