About the Team

Our Integrated Logistics Support team sit as part of our wider Engineering team, producing and maintaining documentation related to our delivery of military platforms such as HX Trucks and Boxer CRV. As the Senior Instructional Designer – Technical, you will work with the Training Design – Team Leader to ensure that all contracted deliverables are completed on time and to the desired standard. Although our preferred working location for this position is at our Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence (MILVEHCOE) in Redbank, Queensland; we are open to applications to work out of our Melbourne office.

About the Role

The Senior Instructional Designer – Technical will be responsible for the conduct of the Analysis and Design phases of the ADDIE instructional systems design framework. The successful candidate will take ownership of Learning Management Packages and other training products and deliverables to ensure that our customer’s technical staff are equipped to sustain the highly-complex military platforms delivered by RDA. The position calls for a candidate from a trade and/or technical background to ensure that training development aligns with the customer needs and is capable of effective and practical implementation. The Senior Instructional Designer – Technical will engage with multiple stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts from RDA’s Engineering department to ensure product deliverables meet or exceed project and customer requirements.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes: 

  • Certificate III or higher trade qualification in relevant discipline (i.e. Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology, etc.)
  • Diploma in Training Design or equivalent;
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment;
  • Extensive Defence Industry experience;
  • Specialist level working knowledge of the Systems Approach to Defence Learning (SADL);
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, with emphasis on Technical writing;
  • Ability to travel interstate and internationally when required; and
  • Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required).
