As System Architect – Vehicle Electrical Systems, you will be responsible for defining and developing the electrical system architecture of advanced vehicles, with a particular focus on hybrid vehicle platforms.

You will translate vehicle-level requirements into a coherent electrical architecture and ensure that is technically feasible, scalable, safe, manufacturable, serviceable, and ready for mass production.

As system architect of the vehicle electrical system, you will work closely with system architects, electrical and mechanical engineers, software teams, safety engineers, suppliers, and project management.

  • Define the vehicle electrical system architecture, including energy generation, energy storage, power distribution, energy conversion, electrical loads, control units, sensors, actuators, and communication interfaces.
  • Translate vehicle-level requirements into electrical system requirements and architectural concepts, defining interfaces, dependencies, performance requirements, and allocation of functions to electrical and electronic subsystems.
  • Evaluate electrical architectures for hybrid vehicles, and ensure functional, electrical, and technical safety requirements are incorporated into the architecture.
  • Define and coordinate electrical interfaces and communication architectures, including CAN, and Ethernet, ensuring consistent data and power interfaces between subsystems.
  • Coordinate the integration of electrical systems with mechanical, software, thermal, and vehicle-level architectures, resolving technical conflicts and ensuring that system-level constraints are addressed early in the design process.
  • Lead architectural trade-off studies and design decisions, considering performance, reliability, safety, weight, cost, packaging, maintainability, scalability, and manufacturability.
  • Maintain the electrical system architecture throughout the vehicle lifecycle, supporting design reviews, engineering changes, configuration management, verification and validation, and production.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Several years of professional experience in vehicle electrical/electronic systems, automotive systems engineering, electrical system architecture definition
  • Strong understanding of vehicle electrical architectures, including power generation and distribution, energy storage, electrical loads, ECUs, sensors, actuators, and vehicle communication networks
  • Experience with hybrid and/or electric vehicle architectures, including high-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems, electric drives, batteries, inverters, DC/DC converters, and energy management
  • Strong systems engineering capability, including requirements engineering, interface definition, system decomposition, architectural design, trade-off analysis, and system integration
  • Understanding of functional safety, EMC, reliability, and applicable automotive standards and regulations is highly desirable
  • Experience with architecture, electrical design, CAD (e.g. E³.series, Zuken, AutoCAD Electrical) PDM (e.g. Teamcenter), requirements-management (e.g. Doors), and systems-engineering tools is required
  • Excellent command of English and Dutch; German language skills are considered a strong plus
