Based out of our Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence (MILVEHCOE), the RDA Operations team consists of a number of experienced and talented individuals, striving to achieve business goals in relation to improving Australia’s Defence capability. About the Role

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will work as an integral part of the operations team and will take responsibility for:

  • Lead the specification and design of all tooling, machinery, plant and equipment;
  • Project manage the end to end process for both new and modified items to meet; cost, quality, productivity, safety and schedule targets;
  • Support Production, Quality and facilities in the writing technical documentation.
  • Lead RCA for production equipment and tooling;
  • Investigate Product Change Notes, to ensure all manufacturing equipment impacts are captured and implemented;
  • Support the business in capacity analysis and CAPEX requirements;
  • Carry out risk assessments for all new and modified tooling and equipment to ensure compliance with RDA Health, Safety and Environmental policies; and
  • Leadership and support to a Manufacturing Engineer.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes: 

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent with 5+ years’ experience in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering (preferably Heavy Vehicle production);
  • Experienced in all aspects of mechanical engineering for the design of jigs & fixtures, production tooling and equipment;
  • Proficient in using 3D design software (preferably NX);
  • Knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations related to plant, equipment, jigs and fixtures;
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines;
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills; and
  • Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required).
