Senior Analytical Chemist

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Independent execution of routine and non-routine analysis.
• Manage teams within laboratory
• Responsible for reporting of results
• Analytical support with Thermal, SEM, HPLC, GC, IC, MP, NIR, XRF, FTIR and Spectrophotometer analysis
• Responsible for preparation of calibration standards.
• Capable of interpretation of data and sentencing.
• Liaise with suppliers in the case of equipment breakdowns.
• Assist in interpretation of results and writing of reports.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
• Calibration and verification of laboratory equipment.
• Continuously decrease analytical time by develop new methods
• Conduct investigations, problem solving and trouble - shooting
• Provide technical support to Product Development and plant on non-routine basis
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Adheres and implements Rheinmetall Denel Munitions Policies and Procedures and ensures compliance to ISO Standards with respect to SHE /Quality /Environmental/Energy.

• BTech Analytical Chemistry or BSc Chemistry/Material Science.
• Post graduate qualification will be advantageous.
• At least 5 years of Analytical laboratory experience of which 2 years should have been in a supervisory level.
• Thermal, Chromatography, spectroscopy, wet chemistry and physical testing.
• Clear security screening record.
• Good verbal and written communication.
• Good housekeeping and responsible waste management.
• Good interpersonal skills and coordinating capability.
• Good planning and attention to detail.
• Self-motivated and independent.
• Computer literate (MS Packages).
