Artisan Machinist

We are seeking a skilled Artisan Machinist to join our team. This role involves setting up and changing tooling on CNC and conventional machines, with a strong focus on hands-on machining expertise and mechanical insight. The Artisan Machinist will have an in-depth understanding of mechanical assemblies—specifically the internal components and structure of Line 1 Mandrels—and will be comfortable operating CNC equipment fitted with Fanuc and Siemens controllers (Turning and Milling). They will machine non-production items for product development on an ad-hoc basis and assist with jobbing required by Quality, Maintenance, Forging and Process Departments. Their role includes observing machine operations to verify accuracy, detecting malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions, and using precision measuring instruments such as verniers, micrometers, dial gauges, and dial calipers. They must adjust machine controls, including part process and machine sequences, to ensure parts conform to drawings, verify first-piece inspections, and monitor completed work by testing and taking critical measurements for program correctness and repeatability. Additionally, they contribute to maintaining the general cleanliness and upkeep of the pre-setting machine shop.

• Recognized trade qualification as a Fitter and Turner, Toolmaker, or Machinist
• At least 3 years CNC machine operation and setting in the engineering environment.
