WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Analytical Chemist will be responsible for routine and non-routine analysis that are accurate, reliable, timely and according to the approved specifications and methods in order to support production.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Routine and non – routine analysis on all products and raw materials.
- Work shifts to support continuous production if required.
- Must be able to work overtime on short notice.
- Gravimetric and volumetric analysis.
- Operation of specialized instrumentation (Chromatography and Spectroscopy Analysis).
- Accountable for laboratory administration and interaction with plant personnel.
- Calibration and verification of laboratory equipment.
- Capable of interpretation of data and sentencing.
- Adhere to quality and safety requirements.
- Good housekeeping and responsible waste management.
- Adheres and implements Rheinmetall Denel Munitions Policies and Procedures and ensures compliance to ISO Standards with respect to SHE/Quality/Environmental/Energy.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
- National Diploma in Chemistry or NQF 6 equivalent qualification.
- BTech/BSc qualification in Chemistry would be advantageous.
- At least 3 years’ experience in Chemistry discipline.
- Experience working in explosive environment will be advantageous.
- Good verbal and written communication.
- Self-motivated and independent.
- High standard of workmanship.
- Good planning and attention to detail.
- Must be able to work under pressure.
- Good interpersonal skills and coordinating capability.
- Must be computer literate (Ms Packages).
