Electrical Engineering Intern

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Electrical Engineering Intern will learn and gain experience in interpreting electrical schematics, supporting procurement and installation processes, and ensuring that the Bill of Materials (BOM) aligns accurately with the physical assembly of electrical panels. This role will contribute to improving quality control and reducing rework by ensuring panels meet safety and design standards prior to leaving the shop floor.

KEY PERFOMANCE AREAS:

• Assist in identifying and organising electrical components required for panel assembly.
• Assist in verifying the Bill of Material (BOM) corresponds with the physical components received and prepared for installation.
• Assist with panel assembly preparation and installation processes.
• Support the interpretation of electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
• Perform basic quality checks on wiring and component placement using point-to-point verification methods.
• Assist in monitoring adherence to electrical safety standards and regulatory compliance during panel builds.
• Support documentation and record keeping related to component management and quality control processes.
• Adhere to all applicable legislation within RDM.
• Adheres and implements Rheinmetall Denel Munitions Policies and Procedures and ensures compliance to ISO Standards with respect to SHE/Quality/Environmental/Energy.

POST REQUIREMENTS:

• N6 in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Infrastructure Construction.
• A valid Trade Test- Electrical/ Electrical Infrastructure
• Fully computer literate (all MS Office packages).
• Good knowledge & understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Good fault finding and trouble shooting skills.
• Be available for standby duties and overtime when and as needed.
• Must be able to work under pressure.
• Good communication and organising skills.
