Logistics & Warehousing Intern

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Logistics & Warehousing Intern will learn and gain experience in managing the flow of goods from receiving to dispatch, supporting Just-In-Time (JIT) material delivery to the workshop, and ensuring that required tools and materials are readily available for production teams. This role aims to improve operational efficiency by reducing time spent searching for parts and increasing the productivity of technical teams.

KEY PERFOMANCE AREAS:

• Support the receiving, identification, and organisation of materials and components within the warehouse.
• Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records and stock control processes.
• Support the preparation and “kitting” of materials for specific production and fabrication orders.
• Assist in conducting stock-taking activities and updating inventory tracking systems.
• Support coordination between the warehouse and workshop to ensure timely availability of materials.
• Assist with identifying and organising tools and materials commonly used by Boilermakers and Fitters.
• Support documentation and record-keeping related to warehouse operations and inventory management.
• Follow safety guidelines and procedures when working in the warehouse and workshop environments.
• Adhere to all applicable legislation within RDM.
• Adheres and implements Rheinmetall Denel Munitions Policies and Procedures and ensures compliance to ISO Standards with respect to SHE/Quality/Environmental/Energy.

POST REQUIREMENTS:

• NQF 6 in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field.
• Fully computer literate (all MS Office packages).
• Basic understanding of inventory management and warehouse operations.
• Good organisational and coordination skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet operational deadlines.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
