The Safety & Environmental Engineer is critical to ensuring that the ACTS is Safe by Design. The Safety & Environmental Engineer will work in accordance with the ACTS Safety & Environmental policy, ensuring that all equipment and capabilities being trialled or introduced into service are Safe by Design. This will include the provision of Safety Cases based on the information provided by the suppliers, ensuring risks are as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP).
Skills Required
- Experience of compiling and delivering Safety Case Reports and other supporting safety documentation e.g. plans, process, requirements.
- In depth knowledge of common safety standards and environmental regulations including:
- DEFSTAN 00-056 and 07-085 Defence Safety Authority (DSA) – Defence Land Safety and Environmental Regulations
- DSA 01 and DSA 02 Defence Ordnance Munitions Explosives (DOME)
- JSP 375 and 815
- ACSO 1200
- Ability to interpret technical data and produce clear, logical and robust safety arguments.
- Experienced in leading Safety Working Groups, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, and facilitating risk assessments.
- Self-motivated with desire to learn new technologies. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
