As Senior Legal Counsel, you will act as the main and key legal (excluding HR and tax related matters) advisor to Rheinmetall Canada, ensuring compliance with Canadian laws and corporate governance requirements while supporting a wide range of commercial, contractual, and operational activities. You will collaborate closely with internal teams in Canada and abroad, act as the primary liaison with the Division General Counsel located in Germany, and assist translate global policies into the Canadian regulatory context.
This role is ideal for a business‑minded lawyer who thrives in a multinational environment and enjoys balancing legal rigor with practical, solution‑oriented guidance.
- Ensure compliance of Canadian entities with applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws and regulations.
- Provide strategic legal advice on commercial, contractual, corporate, and regulatory matters.
- Ability to independently manage complex commercial negotiations,
- Lead governance activities, including corporate filings, board documentation, and adherence to Rheinmetall Group policies and standards.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements and legal documents.
- Serve as the primary legal point of contact between Rheinmetall Canada, the Corporate Group, and other Rheinmetall entities worldwide.
- Support business units in identifying, assessing, and mitigating legal and regulatory risks, including those related to international operations.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (engineering, procurement, compliance, HR, finance) to develop practical, business‑aligned solutions.
- Conduct internal training and awareness sessions on global policies, compliance topics, and legal best practices.
- Adapt and localize corporate policies, procedures, and directives to ensure alignment with Canadian legal requirements.
- Manage relationships with external counsel and oversee specialized legal mandates as needed (i.e. management of any litigation).
- Contribute to continuous improvement of internal processes, templates, and governance frameworks,
- Ability to influence without authority,
- Proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and active membership with the Quebec Bar.
- 5–7 years of experience in corporate or commercial law, ideally within an in‑house or multinational corporate environment.
- Fully bilingual in French and English, both written and spoken.
- Strong ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable business guidance.
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated accountability and ability to provide timely, concise advice under tight deadlines.
- Proven capacity to manage multiple files simultaneously and prioritize effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across cultures, functions, and time zones.
- Experience working within a global organization and a matrix structure is an asset.
