PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Boiler Fitter will be responsible for performing planned and general maintenance on the plant (Boiler Station) in accordance with job cards. The role includes carrying out scheduled maintenance tasks, as well as performing and signing off on all scheduled and statutory inspections in compliance with relevant requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain all infrastructure, equipment and services as per works request for maximum plant availability.
  • Perform planned and statutory maintenance.
  • Inspect, service and repair coal boilers
  • To inspect, service, repair and overhaul coal boiler components.
  • Plans correct procedure and method of work to comply to permit with work.
  • To perform planned preventative maintenance.
  • To inspect, service and repair water treatment system on boilers.
  • Perform maintenance on steam pipes, valves and equipment
  • Perform maintenance on conveyor elevator and belts
  • Perform maintenance water pumps and utilities.
  • Analyze drawings and plan material accordingly.
  • To perform breakdown maintenance.
  • Execute planned plant upgrades as per approved capital or PD projects.
  • Knowledge of water treatment system of boilers
  • To perform breakdown maintenance.
  • Responsible for coal boiler and all utilities
  • Responsible for coal intake and de-ash of boiler.
  • Adheres and implements Rheinmetall Denel Munitions Policies and Procedures and ensures compliance to ISO Standards with respect to SHE/Quality/Environmental/Energy
  • National Senior Certificate or NQF 4 equivalent qualification.
  • Have completed an apprenticeship.
  • Trade test as Fitter or Fitter and Turner.
  • Valid code 8 driver’s license.
  • At least 3 year's maintenance experience on coal boilers
  • Willingness to work overtime
  • Self-disciplined. hardworking and enthusiastic individual
  • Neat and orderly approach to his work.
  • Ability to work individually
