About the Team
RDA’s Legal and Commercial function is a dynamic team made up of legal, contracting, commercial, intellectual property and trade control specialists that support the business in delivering and mitigating risk under existing contracts and tendering for new business.
About the Role
As the Contracts Manager you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:
- Assist with the drafting and negotiating Contract Change Proposals (CCPs), ensure that the Prime Contract is updated in accordance with AUSDEFCON Complex contracting model and notify subcontract managers of any changes under the Prime Contract that may impact contracts with suppliers;
- Provide advice and assistance to project manager(s) and Integrated Program Team (IPT) members on all contracting and other commercial activities;
- Manage and administer the Prime Contract in accordance with RDA policies and procedures, ensuring compliance to RDA’s contracted terms and managing contractual risk;
- Support the identification, preparation and negotiation of Survey and Quote (S&Qs) in accordance with requirements and obligations of the Prime Contract;
- Interface with CASG counterparts and prepare for meetings between RDA and CASG;
- Monitor and report the performance of the Prime Contract (including Deliverables, Milestones, CCPs and S&Qs) and where necessary escalate issues and/or take corrective action;
- Develop a working relationship with the Project Team and functional organisations to facilitate the flow of information which may have impact on the Prime Contract performance and execution;
- Maintain an overview of mandatory flowdowns from the Prime Contract and interface with other Legal and Commercial team members to ensure that mandatory flowdowns are included in contracts with suppliers and subcontractors;
- Interface and work with colleagues in Germany and assist with administering and amending intercompany agreements;
- Develop and maintain Prime Contract compliance and risk register;
- Actively support the Project Team in identification of opportunities for revenue enhancement, schedule relief and claim avoidance;
- Actively mitigate the risk of contractual claims and manage claims;
- Promote commercial guidance, prepare procedures for contract administration and contribute to the Legal and Commercial training program by assisting with the preparation of contract training modules;
- Ensure that a conformed version of the Prime Contract maintained and available on SharePoint at all times;
- Assist with proposals and the review of tenders for new business, general contracting and provide assistance to the Commercial Manager and Director of Legal and Commercial as required.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:
- Prior contract management experience and/or experience negotiating and drafting contracts;
- High level of attention to detail; Strong drafting skills and a sound understanding of contract law principles;
- Computer operation including Microsoft Explorer, Microsoft Office Professional suite and SharePoint;
- Ability to think outside of the box and solution oriented;
- Prior Defence experience and understanding of AUSDEFCON contracting (desirable not required); and
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (must hold Australian Citizenship).
