Material Science Intern

 PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Material Science Intern will provide real-time testing services to production shifts on a 24-hour basis. The intern will ensure that the routine and non-routine analysis of intermediate production and investigational work are carried out in compliance with Rheinmetall quality control laboratory systems, in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices and ISO 9001:2015 standards.

KEY PERFOMANCE AREAS:

• Provide real-time mechanical testing of production samples using approved test methods and laboratory standards.
• Support testing for cross-functional investigations.
• Recording and publishing/reporting of laboratory results to relevant personnel with the appropriate urgency for decision making.
• Report any unsafe conditions, equipment or practices immediately to the Quality Control Laboratory Manager.
• Ensure all laboratories comply with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, and ISO 17025.
• Adheres and implements Rheinmetall Denel Munitions Policies and Procedures and ensures compliance to ISO Standards with respect to SHE/ Quality/ Environmental /Energy.

• BSc in Material Science or equivalent qualification.
• Theory and knowledge of Materials Science.
• Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices.
• Laboratory instrument knowledge.
• Laboratory safety knowledge.
• Willingness to learn, reliability, tolerant and self-driven.
• Able to work shifts and on weekends when required.
• Willingness to work with others in a team environment.
• Ensure that self-behavior is aligned with company values and expectations.
