Rheinmetall Weapon Munitions UK Ltd. (RWM UK) is part of Germany’s largest defence engineering company Rheinmetall AG based in Düsseldorf (Germany). We design, manufacture and support military large-calibre weapon systems used by the British Army and international customers. RWM UK is now starting a new production site in Telford.

The Payroll Clerk is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of employee pay in accordance with company policies and HMRC regulations. This role involves maintaining payroll records, processing overtime requests and absences, processing statutory payments, and supporting employees with payroll-related queries. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, numerate, and able to work accurately to tight deadlines.

 

Position Responsibilities

The individual will be responsible for:

  • Support in the Prepare and process monthly payroll for all employees in line with company deadlines.
  • Input and maintain employee data, including new starters, leavers, and contractual changes.
  • Calculate pay, deductions, and adjustments such as overtime, bonuses, and statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP, etc.).
  • Ensure all PAYE, National Insurance, and pension contributions are calculated and submitted correctly.
  • Administer company pension schemes, including auto-enrolment and uploads to pension providers.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and assist with month-end and year-end reporting.
  • Liaise with HMRC and other external bodies as required.
  • Respond to employee queries regarding payslips, tax codes, and deductions.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee information and payroll data.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing payroll documentation and reports.

 

Essential

  • GCSEs (or equivalent); A-Levels or a qualification in Payroll or Accounting (such as CIPP).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and payroll software (e.g. Sage Payroll, Resource Link, or similar).
  • Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous experience in a payroll or finance administration role

 

Desired:

  • Familiarity with Payroll/HR systems or time-and-attendance software.
  • CIPP qualification or working towards it.
  • Working knowledge of PAYE, National Insurance, statutory payments, and pension auto-enrolment
  • Experience with multi-site payrolls.
  • Previous experience in a payroll or finance administration role
