The System Engineer for Diagnostics & Maintenance of Digital Systems is responsible for analyzing vehicle diagnostic systems (diagnostic communication, error codes, event logs, interfaces, backend and workshop tools), which are analyzed based on requirements and stakeholder needs and integrated into the E/E architecture (physical vehicle architecture).
- Developing diagnostic system specifications for subassemblies and components (vehicle electrical system, powertrain and lighting systems, air conditioning, subassemblies, sensors, actuators, etc.) based on Rh diagnostics and the UDS standard at the complete vehicle level.
- System analysis of data communication between assemblies and ECUs
- Integration of the diagnostic capability of radio and communication systems (C4ISR devices) into the E/E architecture
- Assessment of the effects of faults across system boundaries; structured analysis of complex fault patterns, from the signal level to the entire vehicle
- Development of diagnostic concepts spanning multiple control units
- Fault tree analysis and root cause analysis using measurement and analysis tools (e.g., CANoe)
- Supporting the tendering phases and series production development, as well as coordinating with technical project management, the system team, and expert teams to achieve KPIs and milestones
- Diagnostic support in vehicle production (EOL computers) and logistics (service computers)
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or Computer Science
- Experience in systems engineering, system requirements, and MBSE for mechatronic products
- Experience with vehicle development using the V-model, ECU topology, and vehicle-wide networking; experience with E/E architecture is a plus
- Knowledge of On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) & UDS (ISO 14229), CAN, and Ethernet
- Experience working with DOORS Classic, Cameo/Rhapsody, and PDM
- Excellent written and spoken German and good written and spoken English
- Strong analytical and systems-oriented thinking across domains
- Ability to abstract complex systems using a structured approach
