In modern warfare, dealing with obstacles is one of the most critical challenges to a force's freedom of movement. Whenever an advance through complex minefields comes to a standstill, friendly forces become vulnerable to enemy fire. At this juncture, a swift breakthrough is imperative to sustain the momentum of the attack. It is precisely during this phase that the mine clearance system becomes the enemy's primary target.
In light of this, modern engineer units are equipped with unmanned systems in this 'dead zone' to protect their valuable specialists and ensure the highest precision, even under heavy fire. Systems such as the rocket-propelled Plofadder enable breaches to be created within seconds.
To support this, the unmanned system uses the mine-clearing plough to clear a further passage if necessary, or to finish off the breach that has been created. The mine-clearing system reliably clears any remaining mines and unexploded ordnance to the side, thereby creating a safe passage through the minefield and clearly marking it for following forces.
