We are looking for individuals who thrive in a dynamic, complex and growing environment. We are experiencing an exciting period of growth as we increase our footprint in Australia. We wish to develop a customer-centric workforce who takes pride in understanding the needs and delivering quality work for all our internal and external customers.
The future is waiting for you down under. So are we.
Who we are
Rheinmetall Defence Australia Pty Ltd (RDA) is a subsidiary of Rheinmetall Group, a mobility and security technology group headquartered in Düsseldorf, Germany. RDA is a trusted partner to the Australia Defence Force (ADF) and we specialise in:
- Vehicle systems
- Electronic solutions
- Weapons, Ammunition and Protection (WAP) *
* These divisions within Rheinmetall Defence are represented in Australia and New Zealand through a range of joint ventures and individual operating entities such as Rheinmetall MAN, Rheinmetall NIOA Munitions, Vingtech Australia, Rheinmetall Electronics and Logistic Solutions Australasia.
Our ties to the Australian Government date back to more than 40 years ago through the provision of munitions. Today, we are proud to be the largest supplier of military vehicles to the ADF.
Concurrently, we are growing our Australian footprint to deliver system solutions and capability in the areas of mobility, lethality, reconnaissance, protection, and sustainment during this important time in the life of the nation’s defence industry as the Commonwealth of Australia invests $200 billion into defence materiel for the ADF.
We currently have operations in Adelaide, Canberra, Darwin, Melbourne and Sydney and are currently building a Military Vehicles Centre of Excellence (MILVCOE) in Ipswich, Queensland. Across these sites, we currently have 180 employees and we are looking to rapidly grow our workforce to about 500 employees by 2021.
We are committed to providing and maintaining a healthy and safe work environment that fosters equality, fairness, diversity and inclusivity for all employees, agents and contractors.
We also feel that it is very important to give back to the communities to which we all belong. We are committed to partnering and supporting our veteran communities by creating On-Job-Training opportunities for our ADF veterans. Also, to demonstrate our support to employees with commitments to voluntary emergency service activities, jury service, or Australian Defence Force Reserve service, we provide paid leave allowances in addition to employee’s recreational leave entitlements.
We recognise the importance of a healthy workforce who has balance in their private and professional life. As such, we provide company-funded, independent and confidential professional counselling services (Employee Assistance Program) for work, personal or family problems to support our employees and their immediate families overall wellbeing.
As we continue to grow our partnerships with various Australian providers, we will pass on corporate discounts to our employees for their own personal benefit.
Rheinmetall Defence Australia is committed to create opportunities for veterans to establish themselves professionally with a sense of purpose and meaning after they complete a career with the Australian Defence Force.
In addition, Rheinmetall’s aim is help to educate industry, in particular our suppliers on the value of employing ex defence personnel and recognising the depth and breadth of professional expertise these individuals can bring to their organisation.
Rheinmetall’s fundamental objective is to have a workforce that has the diversity of skill, capability and experience to deliver world class products and outcomes for their customers.
Rheinmetall’s Veterans Program initiative has three distinct categories being:
- Veterans engagement: Attraction, consideration and selection of veterans into paid employment;
- Veterans On-job-training: Provision of on-the-job training to ready defence personnel to transition from defence into commercial enterprise to work with Rheinmetall or our industry partners and suppliers; and
- Veterans Volunteer Program: providing veterans who are injured, ill and wounded with opportunities to share their knowledge and expertise with Rheinmetall and industry partners on a volunteer (or part-paid) basis through a structured volunteer program.
Rheinmetall Defence Australia will continue to engage with potential recruits at exhibits, job fairs and tertiary institutions where our Human Resources team can provide up to date information about opportunities available in Australia.
Meet us at those events and learn more about the Rheinmetall as a potential employer. We will advise you individually on entry opportunities and show you current vacancies.
