WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and submit accurate tax returns and supporting schedules for various South African tax types, including:
- Corporate Income Tax and Provisional Tax
- Value-Added Tax (VAT), including maintaining zero rating documentation.
- Withholding Tax
- International Tax and Accounting
- Manage the full accounting function for Permanent Establishments.
- Prepare returns and foreign tax invoices across applicable tax types and countries.
- Tax reporting:
- Prepare income tax and deferred tax calculations for quarter-end, year-end, forecast, and budget cycles.
- Compile notes for Annual Financial Statements (AFS) relating to income and deferred tax.
- Perform general ledger reconciliations for all tax-related accounts
- SARS Engagement and Compliance:
- Draft and submit responses to SARS audit requests, including paragraph 19(3) letters and VAT verifications.
- Maintain and manage SARS tax registrations (new and existing).
- Tax Legislation and Incentives:
- Monitor developments in tax legislation
- Assist with preparing schedules & reports for tax incentives and allowances
- Conduct tax research to support compliance and strategic decision-making.
- Perform routine and ad hoc tax and accounting calculations and analysis.
- Maintain and update internal tax policies and procedures.
- Assist with special projects and tasks as assigned by management.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
POST REQUIREMENTS:
Qualification
- NQF 7 (Bachelor’s Degree) qualification in B.Com with Accounting and Tax.
- Professional designation (e.g. SAIT, SAIPA, AGA (SA), or another SARS Registered Controlling Body.)
- At least 3 years’ experience, including tax activities.
Additional training or experience that will be advantageous:
- Manufacturing industry experience
- Cross-border transactions tax experience
- International tax experience
- SAP experience
Skills and competencies
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and South African tax legislation, with proven ability to interpret and apply complex tax regulations accurately and effectively.
- High ethical standards, self-driven, and committed to ongoing professional development and staying current with changes in tax legislation.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently under pressure while solving complex tax and financial issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with internal stakeholders, external advisors, and SARS when necessary.
- Strong planning and administrative abilities to manage priorities and ensure accurate, timely delivery.
- Proficient in MS Office (particularly Excel and Word) and experienced in using ERP systems.
