Vehicle Systems Specialist Technician
Onsite | Telford | Shift work may be required | Full Time, Perm 37hrs per week
Position Overview
The role will report directly to the Manufacturing Director, supporting multi-disciplinary teams with knowledge and competencies across advanced assembly, integration and diagnostic activities on Boxer, Warrior & Challenger vehicle platforms, with initial focus supporting Drive Module and Mission Module systems.
The role’s key responsibility will be to develop all key competencies and skills across all the Programmes.
What You Will Be Doing
- Carry out installation, fault finding and diagnostic activities on vehicle electrical systems and their installed components
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Perform functional testing and validation following repair or build.
- Complete technical reports and assist the Quality department as required.
- The primary technical escalation point for complex issues, identification and reporting of defects/non-conformances/improvement opportunities.
- Provide on-the-job training and mentoring to technicians and apprentices.
- Develop the teams to enhance skillset and teams ability to deliver efficiently, effectively and safely across all Programmes.
- Provide and develop instructions on vehicle system architecture, diagnostic techniques, correct assembly and torque procedures, assess and support competency development against platform standards and share lessons learned/best practices to improve team capability.
- Other duties and responsibilities that may be required, as determined by your manager from time to time.
Essential
- Minimum of Level 3 qualification in Electrical Automotive or apprentice trained electrician & mechanical who is adaptable and reliable with the ability to prioritise and work effectively to deadlines and/or significant experience in Engineering/Manufacturing bias and the Defence Industry.
- Ability to read and understand specifications, technical drawings, work instructions and test procedures of complex structural components.
- Able to install systems and carry out failure diagnosis and route cause analysis using electrical Block Wiring Diagrams and Schematics.
- Assembly experience working within an electrical, mechanical engineering or production environment in a similar industry.
- Knowledge of vehicle automotive systems (including DC electrical systems).
