We are looking for a Finance Project Manager to support our ISS Programmes. You will be responsible for the management and continual improvement of all areas of financial support for the Business. You will act as the Finance lead for one of the RBSL programme areas, and be responsible for leading on all financial aspects of the programme and providing financial guidance & support to their programme leadership team. This role will interact with key senior leaders on a daily basis, so a confident and professional approach to stakeholder management, combined with a technically sound accounting knowledge and desire to create value, is essential.
In addition to leading on all Finance aspects for their given area, this individual will also be required to assist the wider Finance team with various projects.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead on all financial aspects of the programme area under their responsibility and act as the finance business partner to the Programme Director and their leadership team.
- Actively participate in monthly business and contract reviews and lead financial overviews and presentations to the programme leadership team and Management Committee.
- Lead the EAC review process across the programme, challenging assumptions & basis of estimates and holding other functions to account for their areas of responsibility. This role summarise the position in a reporting pack and present the output alongside the programme leadership team for Management Committee approval.
- Liaise with Programme Director, Project Managers, the Commercial team and cost centre managers to provide financial support to aid decision-making, identifying opportunities and vulnerabilities and supporting the close out of financial positions around key financial reporting dates.
- Lead the budgeting process, applying appropriate challenge and analysing the inputs in co-ordination with the reporting team for senior leadership review. This individual needs to understand and articulate the financial “story” of variances to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Drive financial performance with the programme through ensuring teams “know their numbers and deliver their numbers” and manage risks and opportunities against in-year financial targets.
- Fiduciary duties as Line Manager of a team of project accountants. Recruit, retain and develop employees to ensure responsibilities are discharged in a professional manner.
- Lead the programme team and direct reports through all financial forecasting and internal/external reporting.
- Ownership of the RBSL “cash conscious culture”, working with Commercial, Procurement and Project Managers to deliver on monthly, quarterly and annual cash forecasts and maximising the working capital position.
- Ensuring that all existing and newly formed projects operate under an appropriate and effective set of financial controls, ensuring integrity of the accounts at all times by adhering to RBSL, BAE and Rheinmetall Financial Policies.
- Provide commercial financial advice and support for business development including financial modelling and actively challenging the financial robustness of proposals and their alignment to RBSL’s strategy.
- Ensure that bids are based on the correct charging rates and have responsibility for the cash flow analysis provided in the Request for Bid Approval (“RBA”) process. Review the bid from a financial perspective providing financial modelling, financial support, advice, and challenge where appropriate.
- Managing external reporting and audit for their programme area.
- Work closely with the financial controller to drive continuous improvements that enhance efficiency, strengthen controls and improve quality and timeliness of reporting.
Functional Knowledge
- Be fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with proven PQE
- Have people management experience in a similar sized UK business, preferably in a business that has undergone a significant programme of change.
- Require strong business acumen and understanding of other functions.
- Have a thorough understanding of IFRS15 and Project Accounting, preferably within a manufacturing setting
- Have experience with internal and external stakeholder management, being able to articulate complex financial problems to non-financial individuals
- Will have strong presentation / story-telling skills.
- Know how to navigate through a finance system (knowledge of SAP desirable but not essential)
- Be very experienced in MS Office (predominantly Excel modelling and PowerPoint)
