Rheinmetall Defence Australia Pty Ltd, headquartered in Redbank, Queensland, is one of the largest suppliers of threat protection to the Defence Forces of Australia and New Zealand.
With an Australian lineage dating back more than 40 years, the organisation provides the full range of Rheinmetall’s military products in Australia and New Zealand, and has established a world-class Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence (MILVEHCOE) at Redbank.
Today, we are proud to be the largest supplier of military vehicles to the Australian Defence Force. We are growing our Australian footprint to deliver system solutions and capability in the areas of mobility, lethality, reconnaissance, protection and sustainment. Rheinmetall is also delivering naval systems and technology to the Royal Australian Navy, and has established its Australian industrial footprint as a Defence export powerhouse.
Rheinmetall NIOA Munitions, Rheinmetall’s joint venture with NIOA produce ammunition in Australia in support of the Australian Defence Force and allied export customers.
Rheinmetall Defence Australia has operations in Adelaide, Canberra, Melbourne, Townsville as well as Wellington in New Zealand and is headquartered at the state-of-the-art Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence (MILVEHCOE) in Redbank, Queensland. Rheinmetall NIOA Munitions is our site based in Maryborough, Queensland, and is part of Rheinmetall’s joint venture with NIOA. Rheinmetall NIOA Munitions, produce ammunition in Australia in support of the Australian Defence Force’s Boxer Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle, and other military programs. Rheinmetall Defence Australia includes the existing operations of:

In 2020 Rheinmetall opened the Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence (MILVEHCOE) in Redbank, Queensland. Built from scratch in a record 20 months, the site’s opening heralded a new era of sovereign military design, development and local manufacture of military vehicles, systems and turrets for the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and export to its allies. MILVEHCOE is an 11ha precinct incorporating a regional headquarters for Rheinmetall and a major manufacturing hub that is delivering vehicles to the Australian Defence Force including Boxer 8x8 Combat Reconnaissance Vehicles (CRV) under Australia’s billion project Land 400 Phase 2 and high mobility logistics trucks under the Land 121 Phase 3B/5B program.
Rheinmetall manufactures Naval equipment including the Multi-Ammunition Soft-Kill System at Redbank, and with state of the art welding, armour, heavy grade repair, manufacturing and training, the company is delivering advanced capability to Defence Force, whilst expanding its industrial footprint in the Indo-Pacific region.
